PALIB conducted the 2nd workshop on “E-Library and Scientific Research Policies”

On 18th February 2021, University College of Applied Sciences (UCAS) organized virtual workshop on “E-Library and Scientific Research Policies” within the Erasmus+ KA2 CBHE project: Palestinian Research and Library Platform (PaLib). The workshop aimed to make a collective evaluation for both digital library and scientific research services in Palestine.

Participants and representatives from the partner institutions in Palestine and EU actively participated in the seminar using the Zoom meeting.

 

The project coordinator, Dr. Ahmed AlDahdooh started the first session outlining the

outputs of Work Package 2 also highlighted the aims of the seminar in disseminating these outputs in terms of Policies, rules, regulations of digital libraries and scientific research.

Laure Raso from UCAM – Spain presented the intellectual property policies (IPPs) of E-libraries. Raso talked in detail on author’s rights, intellectual property and the reflection and applications of these concepts in UCAM library. Laura also presented the policies and licenses of UCAS institutional repository. UNIVAQ representative in PaLib, Prof. Anna Tozzi – Italy presented the intellectual property policies and copyright laws of scientific research repositories. Tozzi highlighted the differences between open science and open data principles in Italy and EU. Tozzi also mentioned the services provided in the institutional research repository. 

 

Yahya Saleh from ANNU presented questionnaires instrument development and need assessment methodology as well as the results of the questionnaires analysis in terms of legal environment of IPPs, organizational environment of IPPs and cultural environment of IPPs. Saleh also highlighted the obstacles of IPPs implementation and its impact on organizational performance.

The workshop closed with concluding remarks and open discussion that entrained recommendations to develop and upgrade the systems in a way that adapt the best practices of IPPs of E-libraries and scientific research.
