An-Najah National University Holds a Workshop Entitled "Intellectual Property: Legal Issues and Copyright Protection" within PaLib Project.

On Tuesday, 28 December 2021, An-Najah National University held a workshop on intellectual property: legal issues and copyright protection and within series of local training workshops that organinsed by the co-funded project “Palestinian Research and Library Platform (PALIB)”.
The workshop aims to transfer the know-how that was received during the projects’ mission to EU partner institutions last October 2021.
Representatives of the project partners participated in the workshop, in addition to a number of researchers, faculty members, library, computer staff and some of whom received extensive training in the EU on the basic concepts of digital library systems and research portals; to convey the advanced European experience in these areas.

The workshop was opened by Dr. Imad Brik, project coordinator and director of the Center for International Grants and Projects, welcomed the attendees from Palestinian and Arab universities, and gave an introduction to the project and its objectives to serve the research sector through the optimal use of technology. Dr. Brik highlighted the importance of the project to serve Palestinian researchers, promote scientific research and improve its quality through modern technological means.

In turn, Dr. Yahya Saleh, a faculty member in the Industrial Engineering Department and an expert in the field of intellectual property, gave a presentation on important topics in the field of intellectual property: the importance of intellectual property policies in higher education institutions, intellectual property rights (patents, secrets and trademarks, design, and copyright), Intellectual property policies and protocols, management, rights, characteristics and categories, patents, their characteristics and requirements, intellectual property management in universities, intellectual property policy at An-Najah National University, and examples of patents. Dr. Saleh also presented another presentation on: Evaluating the reality of intellectual property policies in Palestinian universities, reviewing the results of the questionnaire conducted by An-Najah National University within the project's activities.
